No! TABE Testlets are free and will not affect your license count.

Do I need to install a new Test Delivery Client (TDC)?
Yes, in order to measure the Common Core State Standards, TABE Testlets will use a few technology-enhanced items. We had to bolster the TDC to accommodate these new items, so please uninstall your current TDC, and do a fresh installation of the new TDC.

Will the migration affect the testing of our students?
It will not affect the student test experience; the new UI only affects the administrative portion of TABE. Furthermore, any test that was set up with the old UI will work in the new UI.

Will the migration shut down our testing for any time?
No, your administration site, reports, ability to test will not require any downtime.

Will the student’s experience change?
The short answer is no, it will not change. However, TABE Testlets contain Common Core State Standards-based item types, which may seem “different” than typical TABE item types. There could be some questions that involve activities like dragging and dropping, or highlighting text, so from that standpoint it may seem different, but it’s expected. We believe TABE Testlets are a great way to be introduced to these item types!
